Production Technician

About the Role

This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who enjoys precision assembly, process optimization, and prototype development. You will work closely with engineers and researchers to design, fabricate, and test advanced photonic components and systems used in our award-winning product lines such as the nanoFACTORY r-FBG and nanoFACTORY i-QPC.

Key Responsibilities

Prototype Design & Fabrication

  • Design and prepare structural and optical component files for new product prototypes.
  • Operate femtosecond-laser equipment, precision stages, and micro-alignment systems during fabrication.
  • Conduct trial runs to determine optimal processing parameters and ensure repeatability of results.

Production & Assembly

  • Assemble optical, mechanical, and electronic components following technical drawings and SOPs.
  • Perform alignment, calibration, and testing of systems under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Maintain production records and report deviations or quality issues.

Process Optimization

  • Support continuous improvement of fabrication workflows, fixture design, and process stability.
  • Assist in developing and documenting fabrication parameters for new materials and fiber types.
  • Contribute to the transition from prototype to volume manufacturing.

Equipment Maintenance & Quality Control

  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of production equipment.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with ISO and internal standards.
  • Support troubleshooting and corrective action for process or product issues.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with R&D, mechanical, and optics teams to implement design feedback.
  • Provide production feedback for design modifications and process improvements.
  • Contribute to weekly production and testing reports.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Photonics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering, or relevant technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in optical component assembly, precision fabrication, or laser systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD design tools (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and/or control software.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and safety awareness in a cleanroom or lab environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
